Sheila Dikshit dead: She was well till Friday, the end came all of the sudden.

Sheila Dikshit, one of the tallest leaders of Congress and Delhi’s longest-serving CM, passed away at 81 after a prolonged illness on Saturday

The Delhi government has declared a two-day state mourning for Sheila Dikshit's death, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted.

Delhi has no full stops and is not at all a static city. This was something which acted as the governing principle for Sheila Dikshit, the Congress leader who ruled the city for three consecutive terms as its chief minister from December 1998 to December 2013, and passed away on Saturday, fighting a battle to revive the fortunes of her party as president of its Delhi unit.

Three-time Delhi chief minister and Congress stalwart Sheila Dikshit, who gave the national capital its modern look, passed away Saturday afternoon at a private hospital here after suffering cardiac arrest. She was 81.

About Sheila Dikshit 

Sheila was pitchforked into the city’s politics in 1998 when asked by party president Sonia Gandhi to contest the Lok Sabha polls from East Delhi seat. From almost a state of political hibernation, she now had a colossal task to perform.

This huge constituency with 20 assembly seats for long had remained a pocket borough of Congress veteran Har Kishan Lal Bhagat before he lost in 1991.

Thereafter, the BJP managed to turn this seat into its stronghold, winning it again in the 1996 general elections and the 1997 by-polls.

Dikshit was president of Delhi Congress and had served as Delhi's chief minister for 15 years from 1998-2013.

As the longest serving woman chief minister who steered her party to victory for three consecutive terms in 1998, 2003 and 2008, Dikshit ushered in an era of all-round development that transformed Delhi into a world class capital.

Tendulkar, who played 200 Tests and holds the record for the most number of Test runs and Test hundreds, became the sixth Indian batsmen to be given the honour and was inducted soon after he became eligible for induction.

 ICC guidelines dictate that a player be internationally retired for at least five years. Tendulkar played his last Test match in November 2013.

Tendulkar, the most prolific batsman in history, was inducted immediately after becoming eligible for induction, which requires that a player should have played his last international match at least five years before.

Tendulkar, who retired in November 2013, tallied 15,921 runs in Tests and 18,426 in ODIs, both of which remain records. He is the sixth Indian to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

The Australian Fitzpatrick became the eighth woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. She was pivotal in Australia's triumphs in two ICC Women's World Cups. 

The 2011 World Cup-winner in total played a total of 664 international games across all the formats and scored 34,357 runs. He is also the only person to score 100 international centuries and the first person to score a double century in ODI cricket.

Fitzpatrick is the second-highest wicket-taker of all time in women's cricket with 180 ODI scalps and 60 in Tests.

As a coach, she guided the Australian women's team to three World Cup titles.

Now, bid for Air India business class seats with Upgrade Lite

If flying business or first class and enjoying the luxuries has been on your mind, then worry not because under Air India’s new scheme you finally can.

Air India just launched their new domestic airport upgrades scheme Get Up Front’, in which they are offering a chance for everyone to fly Business class on Air India domestic routes.

According to the airline an additional 12 per cent GST will also be applicable on the scheme.

The offer is applicable for all passengers, be it an adult or a child and is also open to all valid ticket holders, i.e. revenue and non-revenue tickets like award tickets, companion free tickets, concessional tickets and discounted tickets.

The airline also mentioned that the upgrade is only applicable on economy to business and business to first class tickets and not on economy to first class tickets.

Over 50 airlines allow passengers to bid on unused space

To bring in cash and also fill up seats, Air India has introduced Upgrade Lite, a service through which passengers can bid for First and Business Class seats.

Successful bidders will be notified at the check-in counters while those not successful will get a refund. Air India has partnered with Optiontown, a travel option website, to jointly allow an upgrade to First or Business class. Under Upgrade Lite, the airline is claiming to offer seats for up to 75 % less.

Air India uses Boeing Co.’s B 777-300ER and B 777-200LR aircraft on long-haul flights. While the B 777-300ER has 342 seats, with four in first class, 35 in business, and 303 in economy, the B 777-200LR has a capacity of 238 seats, with eight in first, 35 in business, and 195 in economy class. 

These aircraft are deployed on the New York, Chicago, Frankfurt, London, Newark, Paris, Toronto and Tokyo routes. Local flights include only business and economy seats.

The first-class seats are sometimes the only ones available on non-stop routes such as New Delhi-New York. They are also the most expensive.

A one-way Delhi-New York ticket for next week on Air India will cost ₹ 228,495 for first class, ₹ 117,709 for business class, and ₹ 34,610 for economy class.

Air India officials said that bids are accepted per person and per flight, and not on a total itinerary.
“So you will have to bid on each individual flight separately if you have more than one connection, and you must bid on each individual passenger’s reservation.

This is important since upgrades are non-transferable.

British Airways plane is too close to Land just a few feet above people heads.

A video of a British Airways flight is going viral online and it shows the Embraer E190 making a scarily low landing at the Skiathos Airport.

The tourists stop to take selfies as the British Airways plane, and several others, come to land

• Unsettling footage of low-flying aircraft was taken as the jet came in to land at Skiathos Airport in Greece

• The airport regularly sees low landings and tourists flock to the island airfield to watch them

Dramatic footage captures calm holidaymakers taking selfies as a British Airways plane roars into land just a few feet above their heads.

Some tourists are knocked off a ledge at the start of the footage, which is a mix of different terrifying landings at Skiathos Airport, Greece.

The landing strip there is just yards from the sea and has become a draw for thrill-seeking tourists.

And, though there's even a sign warning "danger please keep away from aircraft blast", many holidaymakers head to the airport nevertheless to feel a bizarre thrill.

It's an airfield famed for its low landings, but as the video posted shows, they're not usually this low.

Plane enthusiast 'Cargospotter', the user that posted it to YouTube, was raving about the viewing spot.

"We visited Skiathos for the fourth time in four years cause it's one of the most amazing places worldwide if you are interested in aviation and spectacular approaches," the video's description reads.

"Low landings and jetblasts can be observed on a daily basis and last week we filmed an incredible low British Airways Embraer E190 landing.

"The people who were watching the planes were pushed from the wall by the wake turbulence of the Embraer.

"Sometimes, when the weather is good up to 100 people show up behind the runway to watch the planes land and depart."
