IPL franchises discuss new teams

In IPL Major changes, may increase in the number of teams

HIGHLIGHTS

  • 1. Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises want an expansion of the league to 10 teams
  • 2. BCCI officials want all bases covered first and don't wish for a repeat of the 2011 fiasco
  • 3. Rumours were rife that Adani Group had shown tremendous interest in having a team play from Ahmedabad back in 2010

If the meeting between the franchisees and partners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is seen, then the teams want to expand in various franchise tournaments. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants to see the ground reality before any action can be taken so that the events of 2011 should not be repeated again when due to several reasons the number of teams had to be reduced from 10 to 8.
